It varies and can happen often. It is very uncomfortable for the cat so the best thing to do is have her spayed ASAP. Your cat will be healthier and happier for it.
Do you realize that for every 1 person born, there are 7 puppies and kittens
born? At best, 1 will find a forever home.
And don't forget, that every "Free-to-good-home" litter takes homes away
from animals already at the shelter.

STOP letting your pets; or your friends, relatives or co-workers pets
contribute to the problem.
If you love animals, it is NOT ENOUGH to merely say "My pets are fixed".
Vow to educate and enable others to fix their pets too.
Spaying just 1 female dog or cat, will prevent 6 others from ending up in a
shelter the following year.
Please be part of the solution, NOT the problem!
Thank you. ^..^

Beginning in February (when the days get longer), female cats will cycle in and out of heat every 2-3 weeks until they get pregnant. This will continue until the days get short again, sometime in October. So all spring, all summer, and into the fall you will have to deal with annoying, yowly, restless, antsy, drive you absolutely friggin' nuts Miss Kitty in heat. Gestation is 61-63 days, so they can have 2 litters a year pretty easily. Cats multiply like rabbits. Get her fixed, unless you think you can find homes for 10-14 kittens EVERY summer.

Every cat is different. Some stay in heat for 3 days, some can stay in heat for 2 weeks.

Too long! You can go ahead and take her to get spayed even if she is in heat. So, do her and yourself a favor and get her spayed.
