As in one of the commandments, "thou shall not take the lord's name in vain" Why would god care what we call him, as if the opinions and words of one tiny species would tick him off so much.

We need the divine education of the One True God to know Him and to love Him. We don't know Him, so we cannot give names to Him. He gives us His Names and teach us the inexhausted divine meanings through His Divine Messengers. If we call these Names in vain, our souls will be naturally affected. Highest respect and highest love have been taught, not to add any glory to the Most-Glorious God, but to ennoble our souls which are the most sublime creation of God. He gives us all the good things in His worlds and wants us to keep only our pure souls for Him.

He doesnt,
but i do know that by the TYPE Of name you call him, you show him a volume a faith systems and beliefs and actually introduce yourself to him.
If Jesus can polymorph into a different type of person according tothe faith of a person, it maybe that HE represent himself more perfectly.
YET on the other hand it clearly says that God does not change at all, nor does he appear LIKE a man traveling on the road.

As for taking the LORDs name in vain, it doesnt not necessarily mean saying it in the form of cussing. although it is bad enough for a believer to cuss, it can just as readily apply to the entire MUSLIM culture that changes the name of a hebrew prayer to a Muslim ALLAH. OR reproducing the name of the lord in all its context into a sing catch phrase like the jehova witnesses do.
but the most common form of saying the lords name in vain in is in the prayers of all those that pray to him with THEIR LIPs but their hearts are from from him.
OR multiplying prayers that are aksed in repetitions LIKE on the hilll rameumptom. or in daily masses or HOLIDAY mass, or when saying repetitive catch phrases LIKE PBUH.

i have often said that by the time the congreation finishes their Prayer, im just beginning to get in the spirit of prayer. and the Connection is gone when they say AMEN. this is like a prayer in vain and calling upon the lords name in vain, if the whole congretation never actually said a prayer.

there's a great hollow between organic loss of lifestyles and loss of lifestyles as penalty by means of regulation of Justice to avert cruelty and to furnish soothing touch to sufferer's sufferings. while the Universe, a great gadget to run the lifestyles of all kinds, won't be able to be detached in any way. No gadget ever run indifferently. Social gadget won't be able to run devoid of Justice and Justice gadget isn't basically made up of criminal justice.

first of all, the original purpose of man was that we are made to glorify God. that sounds egotistical, but then you think about it - he's God, so it's all good.

taking His name in vain doesn't mean calling Him the wrong thing; it means throwing around a name that should be revered like it is nothing.

The Hebrew people were so careful of this that they actually didn't pronounce the name YWH (yaweh or jehovah), instead they used the less formal word ADNY (adonai) in its place.

God cares very much what you call Him. His name is above all names and should be spoken of with respect. You may feel like a tiny species, but Jesus died for you, so you matter.

He being the creator deserves our respect and love. If you respect the president you would approach him as sir, mr president, or Mr Bush. You would never disrespect a president or king then why would you disrespect the God who created all things?
His name is Jehovah God, Soverign of the Universe, Almighty God, and Father.
When we pray we should address him as Our Father.

Well, what we call people is a reflection of what we think, know, and feel about them. Say you saved your mom from a burning building, and then they turned around and called you "worthless." That's going to sting, not only because of what you just did for her, but also because of your relationship with her.

In the same way, God created and redeemed us just so He could have a relationship with us. If we turn around and call Him a name that is untrue to His very character, then He feels the pain of someone He loves not returning the love.

That sounds really strange when I read it, but I hope you'll take it like I meant it.

I think you are misunderstanding. It is not that you are calling him anything, it's that you are calling out his name in anger. Using his name so randomly (usually in response to a wrong doing that has happened), and associating it with evils is a disgrace to him.

Saying "Oh, my God!" is fine if you are actually calling out to him, where as yelling it because you stubbed your toe is another matter...

You may be thinking about being blasphemous, which is another matter. That is also a form of disgracing him.
