The Israelites were his Chosen people and it was a way to distinguish. Also, who received the Torah, the Egyptians or the Israelites?

While the Egyptians are descendants of Adam and Eve as well, the Israelites were the ones through whom God chose to send His Son, Jesus Christ, not the through the Egyptians.

Only the Israelites wee the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, with whom God made his covenant.

Only the Israelites were God's "chosen people".

The Egyptians were merely "natural" children of God, separated from him by sin.

This goes back to Abraham, whom God promised would be the father of many nations. His son was Issac. Issac had Jacob. Jacob wrestled all night with an angel for the blessing of God. God changed his name to Isreal (Is Real) and out of the generations of Isrealites God brought forth King David and eventually Christ himself. They were the people chosen by God and His promises to them remain even today. Now we, who were not born into Isreal become the sons and daughters of God by accepting Him and He is Our Father too!

yes but, if you read the latter part of genesis, the egiptian's had turned the isrealites in to slaves, and when they cried out to God he heard them, and came to their rescue.

(the Egyptians were also Idol worshipers,) God knows those who are his.

Why were the Jews God's choosen people? because they didn't turn to idol worship like the rest of the world did, (for the most part) some fell into it when they intermarried with the idol worshipers, and found themselves in God's wrath as well, but, they always returned to their first love, a living and forgiving God.

The Israelites were, and are God's chosen people. They were the descendants of Abraham and Isaac. The promise was made to Abraham that from him, a great nation would come, who would be God's chosen people. All others were His creation, but not His people.

Gen 12:2 And I will make of you a great nation. And I will bless you and make your name great; and you will be a blessing.
Gen 12:3 And I will bless those who bless you, and curse the one despising you. And in you all families of the earth shall be blessed.

All people are God's creation. However, The Israelites were the descendants of Abraham. God made a covenant with Abraham because of Abraham's faith in God. That covenant still exist today. God has not forgotten the nation Israel. The Egyptians were pagans and did not believe in Jehovah as the child of Israel. Faith in God pleases Him. Today, the Christian is also God's people, because of our faith in Jesus Christ.

I asked a question about the diff between Judaism & Islam and one answer was that the Jews (Hebrews-?) believe they were descended from Israel (Abraham & Sarah's son) and the Muslims believed they were descended from Ishmael (Abraham's first born from Hagar-?...not entirely sure that's her name, she was Sarah's maid) sooooo
God apparently cares who was descended from who b/c, ya know, people have ansolutely no choice who they're born to; looks like Yahweh is a little finicky

Hello,
Angel is absolutely on the mark with her answer! I appreciate the answer that she gave. Abraham was indeed the one that the Israelites descended from. GOD sent HIS SON to allow every one of us to have the opportunity to be in heaven with HIM. We are to read, study, and obey HIS WORD. This is not an option.

Study these scriptures and see what you think. To become a Christian:
1. We must HEAR GOD’s WORD. - Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
2. We are told to BELIEVE. - To the Prison guard in Acts 16:31 Paul and Silas said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household."
3. We must REPENT (turn from) of our sins. - Acts 17:30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent.
4. We are told to CONFESS CHRIST before men. - Matthew 10:32 "Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.
5. We are to enter the waters and BE BAPTIZED. - Mark 16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
6. We are told to CONTINUE TO BE FAITHFUL until death. - Revelation 2:10b Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
Send me a note if you have questions. I am anxious to hear from you. Have a Great day.
