yes, metabolism slows down

Yes it is harder because your metabolism slows down, but you can do things to speed it up as well! Walking everyday will do just that! Take an hour out of your schedule each day and just walk, anywhere, and you will see a big difference in yourself. You will feel better, and look better. I have a 85 pound dog that walks me every morning and every night, Im 55 years young, and still wears a size 6, and I give much of the credit to my dog! My doctor said because of him my cholesterol is lower as well. Hope this helps you, it has me, and I have been doing this now for the past five years since he is the boss, but it has worked out to my benefit. Good luck!

Oh yeah! And I am only 27 years old, but after two babies, it takes work. I also quit smoking and so that added some pounds, better healthy and chubby, than dead and skinny my husband says! (He's a great guy!) I eat better and work out more than I ever have and just can't seem to do anything but maintain my weight. At least I've quit putting pounds on though!

Yes, it's very hard. And all the odds are against you as you get older. My main downfall is stress eating and then not making time to exercise. I keep saying I'm going to diet, but changing habits is very hard for me and it's difficult to even make that first step towards actually doing something.

I've always tried to be as active as possible, and to eat as healthy as possible. That said, over the years, due to the fact that I did Exercise, was Active, and ate healthy -- my weight has remained pretty stable for quite some time.

I can speak for most women, however, that as one ages, it does get more difficult to lose the weight .. that is why you need to be as active as you are comfortable being and to try to eat as healthy as you can over the years.

Now ... this Empty-Nesting Single Retiree is able to enjoy her life, and I'm not overweight (according to the standards at my doctor's office). I am just glad that I started my healthy habits early.

As you get older your metabolism gets slower, meaning more effort is needed to lose those extra pounds.
