i'll be at the mall and i see these young kids skating all over the place with no concern with who is in there way and i never see the parents telling their kids to stop. i don't care if they skate outside, but indoors is not right. This is just my new pet peeve i quess. and i 'm sure i spelled peeve wrong, i'm sorry. i'm 22, but i still think its inappropriate.

I was at the mall with my 2 year-old son and some brat ran into him because he could not control his skate shoes. His mom was sitting there at a table in the food court stuffing fries into her mouth and didn't say anything to him. I said to my friend loud enough for her to hear that someone is going to end up being sued if they can't control their kids with these skate shoes. She finally told him to sit down. I think they should only be allowed in their own driveway, or at a skate park, not on sidewalks or in other public places.

My 13 year old has them; his mother 'allowed' him to get them with his own babysitting money. I have gone to the grocery store with him when he is wearing them, and of course he wants to skate. I told him no, being the evil Dad that I am. :) So, of course he gets bummed, but at one isle, no one was in, I let him skate down and back again, and then told him that was it, and then he was okay. I guess to a point I caved, but no one was around that he could crash into or annoy, so give a little, then there is less hostility later. Any parent knows little things like that always help.

He also knows that even though he bought them, Dad can taketh them away if he misuses them. I am lucky I don't have brat children.

UUUuuugh, you're so right. I'm also only 22, but watching kids running into a slide on those things makes me so nervous. Plus I hate to think that I'll be driving my car one day and some kid will just skate out in front of me... those shoes make them faster and more unpredictable than the good old red-blinky sneakers!!

My 7 yr old wants them. When she asked I almost peed myself I laughed so hard! Since when is walking through a store such a difficult task? I have been run over on more than one occasion while WORKING! I'm a waitress and parents let their little snot nosed brats skate through the restaurant! I swear the next time it happens I'm telling the parents if they can't control their kid, I will...

Might try getting rid of those bad parents...Anyways, those shoes are cool. I'm 21 and sometimes when my little sister's sleeping i steal her heelys and skate around the kitchen. With all due respect you sound like you've forgetten the joy of being a kid. Lighten up a little.

Advice for future: Try them for yourself.

I understand where you are coming from parents should take a role and stop them from doing it around others but heck no dont ban them, I love rolling around with them they are insanely fun.

A ban withing buildings would be great. However, I don't think banning them altogether would be the right thing. Let them have fun, but don't let them get out of hand.

I hate those things too.
And they are ALWAYS on kids whose parents look like they dont give a crap...
I think it says ALOT about the parents that the kids are with.

I don't think they should ban them, while I think that a lot of people can be hurt/annoyed by them; they shouldn't be banned. What I do think is that parents need to tend over their kids and make sure they aren't being idiotic.
