My kitten stole a slice of whole grain bread from the countertop and ate almost all of it! I found the leftover crumbs on the floor. Is it bad??

I really don't think bread is bad for cats. One of my cats loves to eat bread and I let her have it whenever she wants it. She's almost 17 years old and very healthy, and been eating it since she was a year old, so how bad could it be.

How big of a kitten. Most vets say that 5% of a cat's diet can be made of people food without harm if the other 95% is good quality cat/kitten food. A whole slice of bread as a regular thing is not good but once won't kill him. At least it was whole grain. If he's going to to be so adventuress with his food, put stuff away and only offer him tidbits.

Bread is not bad for the cat at all. It's only bad if it eats too much of it. When I say "too much" I mean enough to make it fat. Grains are good for a cat or a dog if the other parts of their diet are kept in line. Keep that protein coming.

Your cat will be just fine.

Like most of the posters have said, a little bit will not hurt him. I wouldn't recommend giving him "people" food on a regular basis, because there are things that are toxic to cats, and you don't want to find one the hard way. The other issue that could arise is he'll learn not to eat his cat food if he thinks he can steal your food. My recommendation is to find a list of toxic to cats "people" foods, and make sure you never EVER give him any of those, or find a few things that you will give your cat, as a treat. For example, whenever I make shrimp alfredo, I always save a few of the saucy shrimp for my cats, because the milk and seafood makes them go crazy with happiness. I don't give them many, and it's not often, so it won't throw off their diet too much.

My cat's stomach is always a little messed up and he doesn't handle a lot of foods real good. However, he has eaten some bread before and nothing happened. Just watch him, if anything out of the ordinary happens take him to the vet.

Bread is ok, My cat will not shut up if you have a piece of pizza in your hand. She loves the crust we give her a little now and than.

Nothing to worry about at all. Bread isn't a big deal - and their food usually has bread products in it.

Honestly, I don't know. Our kitty chew open a plastic covered bag of fresh bread and eat a bit. Most peculiar. Hasn't harmed him in any way.

No, the bread won't hurt the kitten. We have to stash our bread in the cupboard, fridge . . . anywhere the cats can't get to it!
