You are probably going to have to wait until your W2 comes to get that info. I tried to file my taxes early and searched online and elsewhere and could not find the tax ID number I needed. There was someone about a week ago that posted on here and she put the company she worked at and asked if anyone had the federal ID number, and several people actually responded that had it. So you might have better luck doing it that way!

These are 2 different things usually. Always go with what is on your W2. Your employer may have added/changed the state id number for the year.

If your employer is a publicly traded company, the federal employer identification number will appear on it's SEC filings.
