war to be illegal, or would you rather that he opted out of what he did not believe in? How could he have done a good job if he believed himself to be committing war crimes? Any US soldier who truly believes himself to be comitting war crimes should refuse deployment. Period.

Absolutely not, no way would I want him leading my boyfriend or any other troops. That doesn't take from the fact that he was insubordinate, broke his commitment and his contract and that he has to face the consequences he knew he'd have to face for doing so.

His troops would have shot him.

He shouldn't have volunteered if he was unwilling to fight for his country.
