I do the same thing myself only with Mt. Dew.
People fuss at me all the time, but I cannot deal without it.
If I try to stop I get irritable, and have headaches. I am sure it
is not good for us, but I don't smoke, drink alcohol, or do drugs.
I do have alot of stomach problems, ulcers, acid reflux. I am
sure that the soda's are the biggest cause of those problems.

Everybody has less than perfect habits.
If you can cut back on both the cigs and the sodas, & add in 1/2 gallon of H2o daily, you will feel better. Don't try to go cold turkey, though, because you will just fall off the wagon.
I used to smoke 2 pks cigarettes a day and drank about 3 ltrs. of Diet Coke (+ Coffee) daily.
I am proud to say that I have not had a cigarette in over a year, and I drink maybe 1 ltr. DC + 1 Gallon H2o daily now, AS WELL AS being a Vegetarian! I feel so much better!
It is really hard to change one's ways, but the fact that you are asking questions and exploring your options is super. Keep working toward the goal of better health. Don't pay attention to the Haters.

Coke, in fact most colas or sodas, have a lot of caffeine which is not good for you in those amounts. You didn't mention if you are eating healthy meals, or just drinking the coke, so there's not much more information. I have known people who have lost weight that way, but they also have side effects, lack a lot of nutrients, and need any number of vitamins. Some doctors (mine anyway) suggest ten glasses of water a day and that doesn't include other liquids to keep you hydrated and "running" up to par. You are addicted to the caffeine which is why coffee drinkers have such a time stopping. Either will eventually have side affects. Stopping caffeine gave me horrible headaches in the beginning.

It would be a very good idea to drink water along with that soda. You can drink as much soda as you want....but you just need to oxidize it with H20 (because H20 has oxygen in it....thus the "O".) Your teeth can turn brown and urine becomes yellow because you are dehydrated. If you continue, in the summer you may suffer from heat stroke (may be fatal ! ! !) if you don't consume right amounts of water...with every litre of soda, drink about 1-3 glasses of water.

If you drink Diet, I suggest you really really start to cut off. Diet has aspartame in it; a sugar substitute; A friend of mine left Diet Cokes in a cabinet, forgot about them for about a month or so, and then when he found them a few months after, the aspartame had eaten through the aluminum cans (much like an acid) and spilled the coke all over the cabinet.....now just imagine what would happen if this was your stomach lining...

That's a heavy dose of caffeine as well as the phosphoric acid.

Whenever I start going to heavy on the caffeine-content, I feel a little "on edge" - nervous, jittery, a little "wired". After I get back to fruit juices, water and milk I tend to mellow out again and get relaxed.

I think that your body is so loaded up on the caffeine that you are not getting some of the warning signs - dehydration, loss of electrolytes, etc.

I would recommend that you gradually replace the coca-cola volume with other liquids - juice, gatorade, water, milk - maybe 8 ounces at a time. One less glass of coca-cola, one more glass of the other. In the volume of liquid you are currently drinking, you might be able to back off one 8-ounce exchange per day or every other day. Be prepared to sleep a little longer each day as the caffeine intake drops off. In 2-4 weeks you will reach a one can of coca-cola per day intake which would be much more reasonable.

If your so happy with all the sugar you are putting in your body then what are you exactly asking?. Chances are your body is used to all that crap your feeding it. Won't kill you to drink at least 1 glass of water a day. I don't know how old you are but man your poor body is working over time to keep your heart ticking. you smoke as well. Have you heard of heart disease...... not to mention your lungs are black like tar. You will do your self so much good if you quit smoking and try and drink if you have to 1 can of coke a day.

Dude, you are going to have MAJOR health problems. that will catch up with you, eventually. kidney stones is extremely pain-full. it is comparable to childbirth. seriously, coke is great, i love it myself. i drink a glass a day or less. i have gotten used to water, and feel a lot better for it. in high school, i drank about half a gallon of iced tea EVERY DAY. the down side:withdraw symptoms. you should try to cut back gradually. as far as your body evolving, NO, that much soda will always be bad for you. remember, just about anything in moderation is good, or at least not bad for you. moderation is the key.

12 oz of coke has roughly 50mg caffeine. There is also an enormous amount of sugar (if you're drinking regular coke). Intake of that much high fructose corn syrup is basically asking for type II diabetes, so ask yourself how much you like your legs (and penis for men), because you'll lose use of both of them as the diabetes progresses.
