The "Flying Spaghetti Monster" (FSM) is a deity that was created toungue-in-cheek by Bobby Henderson, and has grown into a parody religious movement of some kind. They claim that the world was created by a FSM. They also believe dressing like a pirate can combat global warming, and for evidence they point to a chart that clearly shows global temperature has been rising over these centures and that the number of pirates has been declining over the centuries too.
The whole point of this intentional joke is that one can take the notion of something as ridiculous as a Flying Spaghetti Monster, and use the same arguments creationsts use to justify the existence of such a silly being.
Of course, you being a Catholic (and thus part of a sect that treats the Bible as a communications book, rather than a literal word-for-word history book), you understand that one can both believe in God and accept evolution. The FSM movement wasn't made to attack religion, but rather point out the reasoning flaws of those who actually think creationism should be taught equally in a science classroom.
