What you need to do is go to your 2nd page and go to page - headers and footers and select "different header for first page. inthe page setup options"(it's in the page layout section on the little toolbar). It's a little backwards... but you need to put in the header for your 2nd page before your first page. Just make sure you click "different first page" in the header setup.

p.s. you don't need to put in a section break... it's making it more complex.... If you are doing a simple document, the above instructions will work fine.

at the end of the first page insert a section break for next page, then in headers and footers on the second page click on ´link to previous´ this should then allow you to change the header on the second page or take out the header on the first page and keep the second page header.
Hope this helps :)

On the "Header and Footer" toolbar, there is a button to turn off/on "same as previous". The trick is that it refers to the previous section, not page. Put a "next page" section break at the end of page 1 and the toolbar will activate the button.

Good luck - as I don't believe that MS Word is smart enough - it's an all or nothing on the heading last I knew.
