I don't have to look for him. You are claiming that he exists, so you have to prove it. If I tell you that purple hedgehog trees exist, would it be fair of me to expect you to go look for one to prove that it doesn't exist, or would it be fair for you to expect me to prove that what I am claiming to be true is, in fact, true?
How can you say there isn't a Santa Claus, or a Tooth Fairy, or an Easter Bunny, without looking for them?

What are you talking about atheist's do look for god. Everyone is born atheist though they only become religious. After being indoctrinated as a child and told there is a god without thinking for themselves. I was a christian since I was born and went on mission trips and the whole nine yards. But after growing up and learning about religion and science I found out i was a complete idiot. Someday maybe you will find the same.
Putting all scientific facts asside. Why would an all knowing god create a universe and then leave no proof of his existence. And want only people with blind faith to believe in him.

Why would they bother looking for something that they claim doesn't exist? That would be like my saying, "Hey, go look for the polka dotted purple people eater," if it didn't seem possible.
I think atheism is still a religion...they do worship someone; they worship themselves. I think atheism is just a cop-out for not wanting to be held accountable for actions they played a part in on Earth. It makes them feel like they won't have any repocussions for any bad choices they have made, nor do they have to be held accountable by a "higher power." Atheism is just another word for self-worshipping.
Oh, and for those of you who are saying there is no proof that God exists...look around you at the wonderful creation. The Designer designed the moon, the stars, the Earth. How does the world exist? With everything there is a beginning...So what you are telling me is that no one created this world? That it just suddenly appeared? Someone put it here, didn't they?

Before we enter into the philosophical-theological debate, may I suggest that you learn the difference between "their" and "there?"
Now, moving on to your question: You seem to assume that atheists have not looked for God. Most atheists have at one time or another been theists, and found it unsatisfactory. Many have done a great deal of research in theology and comparative religions, ending with the realization that there (note the spelling) was no convincing evidence for the existence of God.

Look thats a strange question. You mean soul searching? Obviously he isn't in the phone book. What makes you think that an atheist didn't do any soul searching before deciding he's atheist. Just because it worked for you and you supposedly "found god" Doesn't mean their searching would neccesarily end the same way.

Or her. Or it. God isn't neccessarily a male or human or even humanoid.
But otherwise you are right. To say that god doesn't exist without looking is as irrational as saying that there is a god without having definitive proof.
Agnosticism on the other hand is the only viewpoint about god which can always be true.

God is typically described as infinite. Omnipressent, omnipotent, and omnicient. Humans are by definition, FINITE. We have finite capacities for perceiving and interpreting the world. Those capacities are our brains which interpret sensory and analytical data from the world around us. How could our finite capacities ever come to a remotely satisfactory conclusion about the existence of an infinite being that is BY DEFINITION beyond all measurement and quantification?
That is why science and faith are incompatible. That is why you have to believe in god and cannot "know" god on any meaningful intellectual level.

How can a Christian say there is no Baal, if he never looked for him?
How can a Muslim say there is no Odin, if he never looked for him?
How can any theist deny all the other thousands of gods without spending time searching for each and every single one?
When you understand why you deny all the gods but the one you worship, you'll understand why atheists can take it one step further and not believe in your god either.

hi:
i am an atheist.
i have looked for god or more likely i had god imposed upon me.
since i was a child i had bible studies at school, had essays done about biblical subjects and studied the diferent religions in the world , also as a child i begun considering the facts of evolution , wich let me to belive there was no creation that ever took place.
so i took over atheism and had my own standards of morality and ethics.

What atheist do you know that hasn't pondered the question of the existence of god?
Almost everyone comes to their own beliefs after years of consideration, thought, and discussion. Those who don't likely have those beliefs handed down to them by their parents, and that happens in religious families as well.
