what are some exercises to trim down this problem area? side bends (with weights) dont' really seem to work, and i've also heard that doing those actually builds the area. has anything worked for you? thanks!!

I prefer sit-ups, twisting your torso to the opposite side and not letting your back go all the way back down. It really takes a composite effort off all kinds of standard stomach exercises, not to mention a good workout regimen and diet, to improve the obliques. I'm trying to trim 5 pounds off. It's rough.
