Took to mechanic. He said relay to power windows had melted wires (relay under dash). Melted wires go into wire harness. Has anyone had a similar problem? Any Volvo mechanics out there?

no. i have had no actual wiring issues w/ volvo's for years now [save for the occasional owner created botched stereo / alarm installations] suspect that something was "done" that caused this; and as you fix the damage you will soon find where things were "messed" with, thereby giving the why.. a word of caution the whole harness should be pulled and completely inspected visually and electrically as damage at the gang grounds and other terminal connectors can occur as the melting wires pass power to otherwise unrelated circuits. if this is to be an insurance job a new harness may be justified. good luck and keep a systematic approach and all will end well

Have an electrical auto tech.Check for shorts to ground.Remove power from that circuit then remove the relay and all burned or melted together wires and rebuild it.Can be a little costly.Good Luck.
