if you have $200,000 in your bank account then technically your expenses are not outweighing your resources, its not just about income but means of payment. You have to look at by how much your expenses outweigh your income and how long the savings would last to compensate, also are all of your living expenses necessary or do they include luxuries with which you could do without.

No, the savings disqualifies him. In addition, valuable assets such as jewelry, expensive electronics, vehicles over a certain value, all of these things must be reported in the application (in CA anyway), and can prevent a person from qualifying from aid.
It makes sense though; if you have $200K in the bank, you don't really need help. You just need a ride to the bank.

If you live in australia NO!!!!
centrelink will get your bank details i check if you have access to more then $2,000 you will be denied welfare.
If you go to St Vinnies (who I work for) you will asked to bring in a couple of forms from Centrelink, and if you are not on centrelink, then it gets hard for you to scab any assistance off us. If u have $200,000 saved up, give to charity, then you can go on welfare.
Otherwise be thankful you have that money. Everyday i see families with nothing!!!! with kids in dirty clothes, so their parents can afford smokes and beer every day.
Learn to appreciate everything you have!

No, they will tell you to use the money in your account. It probably took you a long time to save up that money, I can see why you wouldn't want to spend it. You might want to look at your situation and see if you can cut back on anything, or if you are retired, maybe go back to work for a little while.

what?? the people who go on or apply for welfare don't have bus fare much less that much savings ..at your age it is called social security.. i don't know about your savings but you should be more than grateful to have that much and i would hope the government to think so also seeing most retired live way under the poverty level and are deprived of food or shelter and savings of any kind count your blessings

No, you would be over the resource limit for food stamps (and probably for any other program your state offers).
Food Stamps has a resource limit of $5,000. Cars, bank accounts, etc are ALL resources.
(FYI.....jewelry and electronics, etc- do NOT affect eligibility for Food Stamp assistance......that is not a 'state to state' thing- as Food Stamp is a Federal Program.....not just that, who would verify what someone owned if that were true? No one.....).

If you have that much money then why do you need welfare. Most people on welfare actually have no money. That is what it is for. A BIT GREEDY dont you think
