How should I go up to a girl for the first time?

I'm a sophomore in highschool, and there's a freshman girl I saw who I want to get to know. I haven't really talked to her, but sometimes we make eye contact in the hallways.

I have NO classes with her, and i only see her in between some classes.

Sicne it's just between a few classes, I can't really go up to her because she's with all her friends and we don't get much time to switch classes.

I wanna go up to her, but I can almost never find her during any of the breaks or in the morning or after school.

If I did find her in the morning or after school, how would I say that I've seen her around and think she's beautiful and stuff? It kinda sounds stalker-ish to me. But I'm not sure how else to put it.

Someone in another question said to drop my books sorta in front of her.. whould that just make me look stupid? lol or whould it work?

Anyone have some advice?

just be a baller...haha nah dude if you go up to her while shes around all her friends she WILL NOT FORGET IT. most of the chicks i know value that more than anything else. plus you have nothing to lose you dont know anyone and your an upperclassmen so they start off thinkin wow an upperclassmen...

OK... this one is easier than you think. I'm older but have gone through this in public high school. The only thing that actually works? Go up to her WHEN she's with her friends. See... the way this works is that, even if her friends are not around, she's gonna tell them all about it anyway. The best way to make your best impression is to do your best to ACT confident and just go up and say hello. The most important part of the question that you asked so that you know that this is ABSOLUTELY the right thing to do? You've made eye contact a number of times. Girls, unlike guys, do this on purpose. We guys do it cuz we think the girl is attractive and we just have to look. Girls do it with guys to relate that they find you attractive. Subtle difference but I guarantee you 100% true. In any case, it sounds like the worst possible answer because you'll have to say hello in front of her freinds too. But, you don't have to say everything you're thinking or feeling. Start little. Start by saying hello to her in the hallways with her friends around. Then her friends will start asking her how she knows YOU. They'll get to talking and she'll be more interested. If SHE starts saying hello to you without you saying it first? YOU'RE IN. If you see her talking with a group of friends between classes I think it would be cool to write her a little note and tap her on the shoulder and say "Hey I think you dropped this". Give her a knowing smile and disappear around the corner. So smooth. Just don't trip on your exit. ;) (The note should just have your name and number or email, maybe a sentence about how you've seen her around and she should text you sometime. Nothing confessing your undying love or anything.)

If she's interested she'll call.

Note* Don't tell her to meet you under the bleachers or circle yes, no, maybe....Haha.

lol, awww that book thing was adorable, but please don't do it, you'll look clumsy. and i think that when you guys look at each other say hey and smile. then if she responds, take it from there, say something like, umMm, perhaps about class or the weather? something you guys have in common and can talk about, so it won't get all quiet and awkward and then keep it casual and cool and it'll all just flow.
