If you plan to travel a lot in Ireland get a 3 -15 day rail and/or bus pass and stay at any of the backpackers hostels from as little as €10 a night, or bring a tent and use camping sites. The sites below cover most of the hostels, camping sites, travel tickets and I have included a couple which give more hints on budget holidays.
Hostels:
"Both internationally affiliated associations and private operators run over 200 hostels all around Ireland and they are the perfect place to rest your weary head while travelling on a budget. Irish hostels are cheap, comfortable spots for the budget traveller in city centers and remote rural locations. Facilities provided often include meals and activities."

Don't, Summer is the most expensive time to visit Ireland. Check out May and September if you have to have warm weather.

If you have no choice, finagle a student ID, they always get discounts in Ireland. Stay at B&Bs, forget driving get a rail pass. Irish trains are on time will get you most places you want to go and are the cheapest way to get around. My favorite guidebooks for cheap suggestions,Rough Guide and Loney Planet.

Your best memories of Ireland will be simple things, sessions with local musicans, get to church services (yes, there are Protestant churches and synagogs in the south not every Irish person is not Catholic) simple meals and a pint in a local pub. Keep it simple and you will be OK.
