The wedding is in May in Connecticut and we are going to take our Engagment pictures next week. I wanted some outdoor shots, but now I'm thinking it might be too cold. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where we can take them, I want something different. I was thinking maybe the museum or City Hall, they have great architecture and scenery but I'm not sure if they would let me do it. Any suggestions or comments?

Most places like city halls will not have a problem with you doing a couple of shots outside. To combat the chill, wear sweaters, something that compliments each other, like a light and dark version of the same colour for example. If you are still nervous about permission, do ask. The worst thing you can hear is no, right?
Okay...be sure that your photographer is going to do a variety of poses...close-up, three-quarter and full-length. (They serve different purposes after..you put the close-up in the paper and the full-length in your book...) Have some fun poses and some more traditional, serious poses. Make sure that you get to show off the bling. Get one with him piggybacking you. Now, if you are on the heavy side, make sure that your photographer shoots down on you, as it is flattering and minimizing. Of course, if you are slender, he/she can shoot whatever angle. Shots of him handing you a single red rose are beautiful. Shots where you hold hands and look soulfully into each other's eyes...mushy stuff like that is so wonderful. Also, a friend of mine had a picture where they were kind of peeking at each other behind a tree. It was charming and I was jealous that I didn't think of it first!
Black and white is very popular and looks very classy. Sepia too. If your photographer is shooting digital, it is easy to modify the colours.
Good luck!

I live in the south so I am not sure of the weather this time of year up there. However, I think that a scenery of your and your hubby standing in from of a snow cover tree would be beautiful or if you are not wanting to brave out in the cold then try an old church. I took our pictures in the back of an old church. They had the most beautiful column that we posed by. We also found this cute area inside the church that was wonderful.

Good luck I am sure they will be perfect!

Go to the Museum, it would be great, and its different. Just call a head to make sure if it would be okay. I am almost 100 percent sure that it would be okay. You would have a vairety of different backgrounds and would look really nice.
You can still do some outdoor shots, just make it quick. It would look really nice with the clean white snow on the trees.

If you can try to find a photographer that INCLUDES engagement photos in their wedding package. If not, have a friend with a decent camera snap some shots of you guys for the local newspaper announcing the engagement. They aren't really needed only if youw ant them. My husband and I didn't get them we just took a picture of us for the paper and spent the money where it counts on the wedding photos.

Do you have any botanical gardens or even (maybe) a florist shop to still get the outdoorsy type feel to your pictures, if all else fails ask your photographer.
