I make my hard boiled eggs- put eggs in a pot one layer touching the bottom, next fill the pot with cool water about 1.5" inches above the top of the eggs bring to a boil and careful not to boil to rapidly may need to turn down a little. Set a timer for 15 minutes.
Turn off burner, take to sink and run cold water into pot with eggs.
You can then decide if you would like to peel them right away and store for later or drain water and put in the refrigerator and peel when you wish to eat them.

How to boil eggs
Put your eggs in a pot (avoid aluminum as it will darken) and cover with cold water.
Add a pinch of salt.
Bring the pot to a boil over high or medium high heat, then lower the heat and simmer.
Depending on the size of your egg, they will need to simmer for
2-3 minutes for soft boiled, about
4-5 minutes for medium and
15-20 minutes for hard boiled.
Drain the eggs and immerse them immediately in cold water to stop the cooking process. Add ice if you can to the water to cool eggs down faster. The refrigerated boiled eggs will keep for about a week.

It always amazes me how many terrible answers this question gets. Please DONT cook them for a half hour!
Boil enough water to cover eggs, when boiling gently submerge eggs. Drop temp of water to low enough that only the tiniest bubbles rise around the eggs. Let this continue 13 mintues. Run cold water over eggs till cool to touch. Refrigerate.

It just depends on what you're boiling them for, and what your personal tastes are. When I used to eat hard-boiled eggs, I'd let them boil three minutes and then cool them off and peel them and then eat them. Then, as I begain liking eggs not so "hard" boiled, and a little runnier, I'd let them boil only one minute, just enough to make the whites and yolks separate and barely harden enough to stand separate, as a whole egg, outside the peel, and then, when I put them in my mouth, they'd just run down or flow down my mouth, like "liquid egg", and they were so very tasty and wonderfully warm and appetizing. But, it's all up to why you're boiling them and what your particular tastes are. God Bless you.

Probably about 5-10 min
But, do you know how to tell when they are done??
Take the egg out with a spoon and blow on it while counting 1001,1002,1003, 1004= if the egg is completely dry (except where the water touches it in the bottom of the spoon) the egg is done. My grandma taught me that. Try it!
