OK so, last night I got way to drunk to drive and had to leave my truck parked behind a truckstop bar in town. This afternoon when my friend drove me back over to get it some dang theif had stolen both doors and the dang BED off my truck! I only have liability but do you think this will be paid? If not do you think it would be legal to just build a couple of plywood doors and tape some trailer lights to the bumper? I went ahead and drove it home and dang if a cop pulled me over but he laughed at my sad story so hard he let me drive on home. It aint very cold so plywood doors would suit me but I dont need any more law problems. Who in their right mind would do this? One of my doors has -- HAD a big burned spot on it to. If I ever catch that SOB I gonna be on him like a hobo on a baloney sandwich. I cant afford new doors or a bed. Do you think anybody in the world has problems like I do. I swear Im gonna write a dang book.

You're SOL. Better hope the bar has video survellience of the parking lot or street and that the cops can find your parts.

Bah on Insurance Companies! LoL! Especially if they aren't your own. Sometimes, your own insurance company is there to make you happy, while if you are not paying them the monthy dues, other insurances are in the business of making money and in turn going cheap on claims. I would see if at all possible you could get an estimate (on their tab would be even better) and see what the damage really adds up to. I'd also check the NADA or Blue Book value of the truck. Maybe they realize that there is a lot of damage. If it would equal more than the $1827 you are obviously getting screwed. And you will either be putting extra money into your truck or buying something new(er) with only $1827. It is not your fault that your truck got totaled, and it is their job it fix it or "make-it-right". If all else fails, get a lawyer (you can always try to get them to pay your legal fees as well). First instinct is strong, and if it just doesn't feel right then I know I wouldn't do it.

Comprehensive is the coverage that would pay for the theft of the doors and truck bed. Since you have liability only, you have no coverage to compensate you for the theft.

As far as building plywood doors and taping on some trailer lights to the back bumper, this hardly sounds street legal. If your vehicle is not street legal, you can expect to be pulled over and ticketed.

Liability covers you for damages you do to others and their property, not for any coverage on your vehicle. Plywood doors would be extremely illegal. Don't even think about it. If your tail lights are gone, you have to have lights that meet code for tail, signal and brake lights, and they can't be taped on!

Sorry, you're out of luck...your insurance won't pay because you're not paying them to cover a loss such as this, you're paying them to C-Y-A in the event you're at fault for accident.
