It would help if I knew what you are addicted to (like if it was drugs, smoking, masturbation, food, pills, etc). But the best advice I can give you for most addictions (not including food, for example) is to stop cold turkey. No matter how hard it is, just stop completely. Trying to wean yourself off gradually will result in splurges where you revert back to the habit. If it's smoking for example, there are patches designed to help you fight the addiction--but you still have to stop cold turkey. It's very difficult and your body will respond very badly at times, but it's the fastest and most effective way to stop an addictive habit.
If you feel the need to perform the habit, distract yourself by doing something you enjoy for a little while. Maybe chew gum, have a quick video game session or a quick run, have a light snack (don't overdo this one), drink lots of water (important), whatever it is that will help you best. One last thing, once you succeed in quitting, never start again (even for one time) or you'll go back to your old habits. Good luck.

I'm 14 too...and even though I don't know what you are addicted to, I think I have an idea..but whatever it is..either get help or just tell yourself that you NEED to quit...you might need a wake-up call or a good friend to bring you back to reality..just consider those close to you..

good luck

You did the 1st step that's the acceptance you have a problem, the 2ND step is wanting to quit, now you need to find a control group to stand with, also talk to your family, they may give you support. What kind of addiction do you have?

Stay away from everything that triggers a craving for the thing you are addicted to. Stay away from people who do it, and places that people do it. Stay with people that will help you stick with your abstainance. the first couple weeks are the toughest so, tell yourself it will get easier to do without it once you start to get used to not having it. This applies to every kind of addiction.

Then stop! Get into a program that will help you stop. Asking for help is a good thing. YOu have to want it for yourself more than anything else, do it for you and you will be happier and healthier and be glad you had the nerve to do it. do it and enjoy your life, take care heather

addicted to what? if you have a drug problem you should go to a narcotics anonymous meeting to seek help. THere will be someone there who can give you personal guidance, and possibly refer you to a place in your area where you can get some help, possibly even for free.

The best thing to have at a time like this is a faith. If you believe in God, start off by praying to him to give you strength. That is the first thing to do. Also, try consulting your family and friends. Together, you can solve the problem better than apart (Two heads ARE better than one.)

Just stop. It might take a little will power. If you need more help, seek a support group.
