My friend in middle school is suffering from a recent depression. She feels lonely and thinks she doesn't have any friends. Her parents have been divorced for a while and I told her that it would really help if she saw a social worker. She asked me if I was crazy because I saw a social worker. I have depression and I do see a social worker. Am I crazy? YEAH! WHEN I'M HYPER, I'M EVERYWHERE!!! But no, I'm not phycologically crazy. I worry about her because she acts as if everything in her life is so perfect, but really, she just recently has been getting depressed. She refuses to see a social worker or even think about it. I mean... do you think she should see one? I think everyone should.
Thanks.
Tell me I'm right.(if you agree)

I'm also starting to get very annoyed. She complains about her depression but does nothing to help herself. In my oppinion, she shouldn't complain unless she's at least trying to help herself! Right?

You are her social worker.
Everybody needs someone to talk to,
even if they are not trained as a social worker.
Its a way of bouncing our ideas off of
someone and getting feedback on how acceptable our
thoughts and feelings are. You dont have to be a social
worker to help her, just be a friend.

I agree with you 100% but everyone is different. She does need to talk to someone about whats going on inside for her and she might not want to talk to a social worker, maybe you can help her find someone older that she can talk to and trust.

Sometimes it's best to try to figure things out for yourself...Just make sure you're there when she's ready.
