Ther has been reports of this disease thousands of years ago. It has just been given a new name lately. It is a massive infection that breaks the tissue down.

I think you're referring to MRSA which has been around, but not to the extent as the last several years. The resistant germs are often found in medical settings and the drugs that were formerly so effective are not able to wipe out the bacteria. We are down to a select few of these drugs now and it's a race to stay ahead of the bad bugs. This is the reason that they are more carefully monitoring penicillin usage.
