I have a friend whose little boy is 5 and was at the hospital today with chest pains. The Dr. said it was growing pains, is that normal?

growing pains are awful things to go thru. I bought my one son some calcium chewables. he said they sorta helped- he didn't take tylenol as often. My Eldest son used to get major pain in his toes--tylenol & a hot foot soak was all I could do for him

I had them in my knees when I was 15 and grew almost 10 inches that year.

yes very, usually warm things feel good on them.
