Good question as there is no mention whatsoever about nuns in the bible. So it would also be interesting to trace when this practise began, as it my shed some light as to when it became practises among black peoples. It may be that black nuns are a relatively recent practise as unfortunately black people were not treated very well by many cultural and religious institutions.

I dunno, but in case you're not aware of it, the first black Christian is recorded in the Book of Acts, within a decade of Jesus' death and resurrection. He was an Ethiopian eunuch on his way home from Jerusalem where he'd attended a Jewish religious festival (high court officials were usually eunuchs in those days so the king wouldn't have to worry about his harem women's faithfulness).
He was met by Philip, one of the 12 apostles, who explained to him how a prophecy of Isaiah which he was reading related to Jesus Christ. Christianity has been the main religion of Ethiopia ever since.
