You could use songs from:
The Phantom of the Opera ~ The Phantom of the Opera
RENT ~ La Vie Boheme
Wicked ~ Defying Gravity
Jekyll and Hyde ~ The Confrontation
The Secret Garden ~ I Heard Someone Crying
Les Miserables ~ One Day More
Into the Woods ~ Last Midnight
The Producers ~ I Wanna Be a Producer
Hairspray ~ You Can't Stop the Beat
Chicago ~ All That Jazz
Cabaret ~ Mein Herr
Sound of Music ~ Sixteen Going on Seventeen
Little Shop of Horrors ~ Feed Me
South Pacific ~ Honey Bun
Sweeney Todd ~ Not While I'm Around
CATS ~ Mr. Mistoffellees
Evita ~ Goodnight and Thank You
But there are many songs from all of these that would work great. Hope this helps.

There are hundreds of shows that have been done on Broadway, these are just a few. THe starred ones are my favorite though they are all good. To find music search on e-bay that is usually where I find all of my music for this type of music. But there are also a lot of musicals as well that were never on broadway but simply movies. If it doesn't have to be broadway, I may look in to that music as well. Good look with your project!

Great music with a wonderful story is "Fiddler on the Roof." Some other titles are:" Westside Story", "Cats," "'The Lion King", "Anna and the King of Siam" (AKA the "King and I" -based on a true story.) An internet search will bring up a LOT of musicals. Anything by Andrew Llyoyd Weber will have great music. Another musical based on a true story is "The Sound of Music." It sounds like a fun project.

You can usually find an Andrew Lloyd Weber set that has TONS of his songs. He composed many of the most popular shows (Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Evita, Sunset Boulevard etc)
They are usually very cheap too and places like Wal Mart usually have them.

You could always go with the classics by Rodgers & Hammerstein, like The Sound of Music, Oklahoma!, Carousel, etc.
