my cousin was telling me that sometimes when she's writing or working on something she hears voices in her head all at once and everything slows down for her. she's afraid that it might be epilepsy. however when she was younger, she was tested and was found to be perfectly healthy.
she's afraid particulary because her brother and her father also have epilepsy.

Sounds like your cousin may want to go to a neurologist to get a workup. They can do an EEG on her (it measures her brain waves) and find out what's wrong. There are pills to treat everything, and I'm sure there is something out there that the neurologist can prescribe to help her once they find out what's wrong. Please tell your cousin not to wait. Something could happen to her when she's behind the wheel.
P.S. I know neurological problems are no joke. I know two people who have grand mal seizures and have seen them having seizures. One happened in front of me when I was about 5 years old--very scary!!
One of these people had a seizure a couple of years ago while on a ladder steaming wallpaper. This person had to spend several days in the burn unit of a hospital recovering--later had skin grafts.
I hope the person who makes light of your cousin's medical problems never has to go through what your cousin is going through or what I've experienced.
P.P.S. An EKG is not the correct test. It measures the heartbeat. It doesn't sound like she has a heart problem

Sounds more like a metal imbalance more than epilepsy. Nothing to be ashamed of. A lot of people have this and are able to control the voices with medication. It is due to an imbalance in a chemical of the brain. It is an actual medical problem.

epilepsy is seizures. When you get seizures you don't hear voice in you head. I am an EMT and I have seen some baziare crap but never any patient that said they heard voices during a seizure... Sounds more like a mental disorder.

hearing voices is more a sign of schizophrenia. sometimes, with this mental illness, people zone out of the real world. that could explain why the "world slows down." schizophrenia is not always detected at birth and can develope over time. i would go to a brain specialist and get a CAT scan. a CAT scan is what measures brain waves.
