He got really offended and wanted to smash me. I thought friend's were suppose to open with one another. Well my little lady said that she is always honest with her friends. I thought I was doing the right thing. He always wonders why he has never had a girlfriend! His breath seriously smells like a bit of crap. Do you think I did the right thing by telling him?

In the long run you helped him out. He's just embarrassed now but he'll get over it.

I was listening to a show on the radio about how important scent is to humans. He is chashing off the ladies without even knowing it. Hopefully now that he's aware of it, he'll take better care of himself and have more luck with finding a girlfriend.

You did the right thing.

You could have been a little more polite about it. Give him a gift of toothpaste, tooth brush, mouth wash and some breath mints, or those little strips of breath mint things.Add a bottle of the pink stuff, could be he has to much stomache acid. And put a card in the present and say ' Only trying to help'. If he still doesn't get the message then he really has a problem, and you really had better duck. The problem is in his head and he really doesn't need any friends.

Not if you said directly that it smelled like poo! Telling a friend they have breath odor issues needs to be handled with tact & kindness. It was the right the thing to do, but just choose your words carefully.

Probably a good thing that you told him but were you as discrete as possible? He was probably angry because he was embarrassed. People can be sensitive some times. Try to be discrete at all times, good you said something though. Could also be the guy has gingivitis which is a major cause of bad breath!

Yep I sure do.
People hate honesty though....always saying "be honest" and then when you are they get pissed.
You still did the right thing. He will most likely get over it in a few days and act like you never said it. Go along with that. You told him once and thats that.

Yes! I think you did the right thing, you did him a favor, by letting him know something negative about himself, so he can change it-if he wants. He just can't handle the truth. And, if he wants to punch you, it is because he is insecure with himself, and wants to take it out on someone else. Your a good friend to have, he is just needs half of a brain to realize it.

You did the right thing. I wonder those did you phrase it nicely or did you really say " Hey Guy, your breath smells like ****... Do something about it." I mean he could have just gotten angry because of the delivery.

Yeah, a friend would probably rather want to hear it from you than some girl anyways if you dont want to tell it to this face like drop of a basket or something in front of his house with mouthwash, toothpaste, a toothbrush, and he will never know it was you enless he sees you do it or you tell him.

Yes. He may not have wanted to hear it, but now that he knows, maybe he can do something about it.

There is the small possibility, tho, that there is an underlying illness that he can't help.

Yes, for one thing is that you did the right thing. But maybe it's the way you say it that has offended him.
