I am considering putting an unatural hue in my hair (possibly a streak or two) and I was wondering which colour fades the nicest without looking oddly tinted and aside from that, which hair dye is the most effective yet the least harmful (if that is even possible).
(P.S. I have medium/dark brown hair)

First off, with your color, you'd probably have to bleach out the stripes of your hair that you want to be the odd color. Second, I wouldn't do that, because it probably won't come out.

If you do use the colors on your hair right now, they probably won't show up that great. If anything, I would have it done professionally at a salon. I know, though, from one of my friends that if you try any colors that aren't natural, you must have light hair for them to show up good.

If you want to highlight with blonde you need the kit. Otherwise it will turn out orangy. You might be able to use a dark red to highlight it with but it doesn't do that much unless you remove the color first and that is hard to do at home unless you buy the kit. If you do the highlight kit make sure to use blonde shampoo every week or so to keep the highlight bright for a longer time, not more often because it is drying, you will know how often once you use it. Then when you decide to change just put on a color close to your own and you are back to yourself again. For the other color highlights buy the newer kits and follow directions, they have the steps and all you need in the box, save the leftover conditioner or glazing and use it after when it needs it. Good luck.

your best bet is to head to the salon and have it done by a professional. The box kits that you buy from the drug store do not have the proper % peroxide to lighten you hair past a ugly gold. Now if you are looking to use strange colors such as pink blue green Burgundy, then that is a whole other story. This last bit of info I am going to give you is just has been done in the past.....HOWEVER I AM NOT BY ANY WAY SAYING TO DO THIS.....PPL HAVE IN THE PAST USED KOOLAIDE. IT WILL EVENTUALLY WASH OUT OR TO MAKE THE PROCESS GO FASTER USE WINDEX TO REMOVE THE COLOR.
