It means that you can cope better in the 'real world' ie in a professional environment, leading to the ability to move up in your job. It also teaches people to be more open minded about the world.

why are somebody marginalized. Its because of their behaviour and this changes in them if they are educated. Therefore education is very essential to these marginalized people who would start thinking after study and reform themselves thereby the society starts accepting them and they are no more marginalized.

in order to think for ourselves, i believe we must learn from the world around us first, so a certain amount of years are required to develop enough wisdom to be able to decide whats right and wrong. but i think its all based on trial and error in ones own life, i think that religion also shapes our morals and values. i myself am not a religous person, but my parents have always taught me whats wrong and right according to what the bible says, because thats american culture, its largely based on the christain religion, so i think that morals and values are taught, it just all depends on who taught you, who planted the seeds of wisdom in your mind. so its not so much the ability to educate oneself, but the ability to be educated by others, and choose between who's knowledge is truth and who's is not. we are all just the product of one another.
