I think it's crazy to have huge birthday parties for small children. I think that it makes perfect sense to limit a party for a 2 year old to family. A crowd of the size you describe would be overstimulating and overwhelming to a two year old.

Rude? No way! I fully intend to do just that! You don't need to have a million people around for a party that she's not going to remember anyhow. When all is said and done, you don't need to stress yourself out with a second birthday party...save it for her sweet sixteen or quinceanera! A smaller party will leave you feeling better about everything....enough food for everyone...enough cake...how many toys do you really need from her birthday? When she's four or five, she'll want kids at her parties. Right now, she will probably just be jazzed about Auntie and Uncle being there

No I don't think it is wrong, a lot of people do it that way. Or you can have a friend party and a family only party. I myself for a two year old would just do the family only party.

I agree in your circumstance and I also, do just family most of the time! My best friend is considered family so she comes, but it saves on the number thing, plus at age 2, she does not have alot of friends yet most likely and until they are older I think this is fine!

No, it is not rude...keep your sanity. Take it from me, I had a huge birthday party for my child's first year. The second year birthday was so much better because it was just family. Don't feel guilty; just keep your sanity, hun!

Not at all. You have every right to have just your family, there's no rule saying otherwise. And I think your daughter will be less confused and get to enjoy her gifts more if there's not so much else going on.

You are the parent, so do what works for you. If other people ask, just say, "we are having family party to keep it small" If they get mad, tough.
