I am wanting to spend my summer over in England. My boyfriend is english and lives in England. I would like to work and get a job whilst over, but I would like to have a job set before I go over. I would be living outside manchester in the Ribble Valley area. Any one know where I could go abouts in finding a job? Any ideas? thanks!!!!

A friend of mind worked in London for 3 months through the BUNAC program. It's a great program and they really take care of you. Check them out:

You definitely can't work on a tourist visa, so your best bet is to do some kind of program.

Sorry to say... won't happen. If you enter the country on a tourist visa it says you can not work.

At each step you have to show documents. Yes in places like america there is a way around. In England the employer has to check your papers then get a temporary job code. Then when you get your first paycheck you have to go to a job centre and show them again..... with your passport.

Arranging a job beforehand? They have to show that they couldn't possibly find I British national to fill the job. Tons of paperwork, interviews to make the claim and most won't bother.

Most jobs in the UK also require a license for whatever. Trimming a hedge... license. Waiting tables? The same. Working in a shop.. same.

You might have dreams of having a job but odds are you will be frustrated and want to go home. By all means visit but you will be an illegal alien......

There is a service that they call aupair, that is working as a Nanny. You live and work in a family house only 8 hours a day, they will contact you and make an offer that also help you with the paper work - to get you a work visa for a year. There is many serious agencies over there, so you travel and work, for a longer period. It is just babysitting legally, plus all your living expenses overthere paid. Off course everybody have their on rules of working hours and salaries. If your boyfriend is in England he could find this info easily with the government.

In England you are better off going to a private employment/job agency!

BTW. Make sure you get your working visa sorted BEFORE you leave. You will also need a bank account once you get there but this may be able to be organised before hand. Look for a mag called TNT when you get there!
