A dog is a dog...they bark, and this can be a HUGE problem. I know, I've been there.
Fortunately it's not your problem to resolve, but it is your problem to address with the owner. It's the owners problem to resolve it.
I didn't do this for my dog...it was an "if all else fails" solution, but if you wanted to suggest something, those no barking collars I hear work well.

Please do not take it out on the dog!! It's not the dogs fault it's the owner's fault. We just had a dog shot and killed by a neighbor in our area because the dog wouldn't stop barking. The guy is being charged with animal cruelty.
First of all contact your local humane society and find out if there are any laws pertaining to barking dogs. Also...a dog should not be out day and night. In many areas that is agains the law as well.
Go talk to you neighbor and just explain that the dogs barking is annoying...like someone tapping you on the shoulder for hours!! If your neighbor is an understanding person, he/she will hopefully want to address the problem. If not, your only other recourse is to go through the humane society for help. They can issue a citation and insist that the neighbor address the barking issue.
The only problem with a barking collar is that they can go off from other noises besides barking. Also, if there are other dogs...if they bark the dog wearing the collar get's shocked...
We had a citronella collar for our dog. Whenever he'd bark he get sprayed with citronella (harmless but doesn't smell good)...it worked!
Good luck.

There is no reason for a dog to be outdoors all the time. I advise you to avoid discussing it with him personally. Anyone that believes the neighborhood should endure his dog yapping 24/7 is a tool. And seriously, anyone that thinks dogs should live outdoors is an ignorant caveman.
Call animal control, and they will help you out. You can remain anonymous!! They will check on the welfare of the dog, talk to the owner about how he's keeping the dog outdoors, etc. That guy better have shelter, food and water for his dog. It's animal cruelty to leave a dog outdoors, especially with no shelter.
I've been through this. First of all you are going to have to document the noise, so get your video camera ready. You're also going to have to take good notes; date, time, duration of barking. If there are times when the dog is NOT barking be sure to note that. The guy might bring his dog in every day from 3 to 4pm, and you need to know that.
It's very hard to get other people to behave responsibly. Please realize that any man that would keep a dog outdoors is not playing with a full deck. You should avoid saying or doing anything that he could perceive as a threat or confrontation.

The dog is probably lonely and is barking for attention. If you were the dogs owner i'd say put a portable radio on the classical station as this soothes the dog to sleep as they need comfort and to sleep mcuh like babies. My suggestion is to go to the owner and say that it is upseting you that the dog is barking all night can they make some changes or you will call someone about pet negligence.

The owner of the dog definitely did not train his dog properly. I have 2 big dogs and if they start barking for nothing, I will speak in a firm voice and they will stop. Dogs love barking at the moon or any noise that they can hear, but you must teach them when an where it is necessary to bark.

first of all, i would ask another neighbor or two to go with you, address this in a non threatening way
1. we like you AND like your dog, BUT the barking is not something we are willing to tolerate
2.we are willing to tolerate this through the period you are fixing this, and will help in any way we can
3. we are aware of our rights and the law and dont wish to invovle the police but if this is not resove withing (3weeks) we will.
4.We have done research on products, services that might help, bark collars, training, etc
if all else fails, be prepared to follow through, have petitions, tape recording of the dog and note every time you talk to the owner so you have records to back up your complaints
good luck

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/6ljiI
If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.
It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

Some states have laws against it. Can even be fined. Check your local police station. Maybe they can do all the work for you. Call from a phone that dosen't have caller id, like a pay phone. Hope it's quiet this week. Good Luck

If it is your dog, get a spray bottle and fill it with water. As soon as the dog starts barking, spray it with the water. It will get the message quite quickly.

call the police, because in some states if your dogs barks more than one hour the police goes over to give them a warning.
