I would see a dermatologist first and foremost but other than that, use a lotion with alpha hydroxy in it. A very good one is Eucerin hand therapy. If you are looking for something with a really nice smell that takes a while to absorb, I recommend Shea or Cocoa butter. Bath and Body works makes this positively yummy smelling Almond Shea body butter. My boyfriend loves it!:) But again, you really should see a dermatologist because it sounds like you might actually need a prescription hand cream. Good luck!!

i think you shouldnt apply hand sanitizer and lotion at the same time or wait a while between applications of either. do you get this in summer too? if you do, you might have some skin issues and you should see a dermatologist. but its its only winter, its prob just dry. i think vaseline is best moisturizer for immediate dryness. maybe you can wash your hands with moisturizing anitibacterial soap instead of hand sanitizer so often. the alcohol can me really drying.

Cut out the hand sanitizer. It contains alcohol which bonds with the water in your skin and dries it out. Lubriderm and Eucerin are the best when it comes to moisturizers. They're not as cool as Bath and Body Works but they do work very well. You can also (don't laugh) put vaseline on your hands when you go to bed and sleep with socks over your hands. This will give you a head start on getting your hands back in good shape.

Just discussed this same problem with doctor. He explained that after you bathe you should apply oil to your body within the first 30 seconds after you dry off to help lock in the moisture. Not lotion, oil. He also said a small amount on the face works wonders. He recommended olive oil, I prefer apricot seed oil it is lighter.

the alcohol in the hand sanitizer dries your hands out. stop using it or get a lotion based kind from bath and body works or something. it annoys the hell out of me, but lotioning your hands up really well and wearing socks over them to bed helps a lot too.

Try using a cream, not a lotion, like eucerin. There's one that comes in a jar. It's expensive, but worth it. I also really like Nivea. Hand santizer has alcohol in it. that will dry you hands out.

Slather on vaseline, then put a pair of short socks over your hands and go to sleep. Next morning you will have beautiful, not dry hands.
Works on feet too.

Walmart sells this expensive but worth it lotion called Amlactin for the extremely dry skin folks. It works really good, smells not so good, and is expensive, but is worth it. I think you have to go to the pharmacy and ask for it.

Oh honey I get the same thing. The doctor told me that I may wash my hands too much, but when it's flu season it's never enough to wash your hands. I think Olay Quench works well.
