Some of the other posters have a good but obvious suggestion to get dandruff shampoo. That may help - if dandruff is actually your problem. I would suggest looking for a store brand (cheaper!) dandruff shampoo that is for dry scalp also would be a good idea.
On top of that, if you wash your hair every day, you might try to skip a day or two per week. You could still take a shower, just not wash your hair.
If none of that works, which it happened to not for me, go to a pharmacy and buy medicated lotion for psoriasis. Psoriasis can be a really serious problem, but it can also affect only the scalp. In fact, it may not even be psoriasis you have at all, but if these other things don't work, that lotion very well might. I part my hair almost all the way to the side and apply the lotion on that part. Then I part it a little less far to side and apply it to that part and so on until i have covered alot of my head. I was having a really disgusting problem with my head flaking really bad and doing this only 3 times all but cured it.. Like I said, don't know if was actually psoriasis, but that lotion did the trick! Good luck!

More than likely your getting dry scalp NOT dandruff. Dandruff is a disorder of the skin. It isn't something that can come and go and the flakes are often oily and grayish in color.
For dry scalp, you want to pick up some Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Shampoo and Conditioner. for the first week or two use it every other day. For the 3rd week and so on, use it once or twice a week at the most for upkeep. Other than that, continue using your normal shampoo after that 2nd week. Just alternate back and forth.
If after this, your flakes continue, see your physician for more help!!
Let me know if you need more assistance.

Black hair usually makes dandruff more noticable. Its probably just from the winter and from a dry scalp and skin. Try using head & sholders it works so well and smells wonderful 2!
Good Luck =]

When the teenage years come, your skin starts becoming hay-wire. Either your skin becomes flaky and dry or oily (which causes acne and gross hair). Dandruff's caused by dry, flaky skin on the scalp- and I find that Head and Shoulders shampoo and conditioner is the best I've ever used. Try that, I've been using it ever since middle school.

Try to use the Neutrogena Dandruff Shampoo, there is one that is dark and one light amber, get the light one. Use that and consult a dermatologist if it gets worse. It's due to the winter and just genetics, and a dry scalp.

In the winter, many people's scalp, along with many other parts of their body such as their hands, tend to get a little dry. (It happens to me as well)
Try a dandruff shampoo.

Dry scalp and hair is caused by inactive oil glands aggravaited by dry winter or desert climates. should be treated with products that have moisturizers and oils. Frequent shampooing will make it worse so avoid if possible. Along with products that have alot of alcohol.

You may just not be rinsing the shampoo out good...plus all the dry, cold weather we've been having this year could contribute to it too...
