well the greek symbols would be the alpha and the omega (do a google search for examples)
A common one is a snake eating its own tail in a ring, its supposed to have something to do with a viscious circle.
Other options would be the infinity symbol (like a figure 8 sideways, again look up google)
in theory the prince symbol is supposed to have soemthing to do with forever but i dont think you want that unless its u&prince forever! lol
Ankhs have also been used for thousands of years to represent eternity.
hope this helps.

I had to laugh at the hospital remark as well...I work in a hospital in chicago and believe me a person is more likely to get sick in a hospital than in a sterile shop. There is an actual diagnosis called 'hospital aquired pnemonia' its only contracted at hospitals and affects more patients then you would think. Also nurses should be weary of EVERYONE who comes into the hospital, you cant see disease and anyone could have anything so I hope shes not just watching her *** around tattooed people cause she's gonna be in trouble when he pokes herself with a needle she just stuck a newborn with AIDS with. Anyway, to answer the question a circle is the ultimate symbol for eternity..its never ending....I think my fiance and I are going to get circles on our ring fingers for that exact reason.. good luck!

This has been fairly well ansered, but I gotta comment on the blatant bigotry the hospital the first person's whatever works at.
If they're going to test every tattooed person for hep, HIV, and STD *wtf is up with the STDs? like a slutwhore with virgin skin is less likely than a virgin with a tattoo to have chlemydia?* they better start testing everyone with any type of scar. You're more likely to contract something from a piece of infected broken glass on the street in front of a church than you are to get infected by a brand new, fresh out of the autoclave needle weilded by a licensed profesional.
Granted, yes, there are bad places out there, but they are usually pretty easy to pick out by anyone having done some research. The places I get pierced *which also do tattoos* are cleaner than some hospitals, and that's no exageration.

So much for Mustanger....Now that thats taken care of.....There are several symbols that stand of "forever" or infinity. One of them is a ring (it has no begining and no end), a mobius strip, the actual symbol for infinity in mathmatics looks like an 8 turned on its side....there are lots of ways to go...start looking at tattoo sites .....start with www.tattooartists.org I think that they have a section for symbols.
good luck with your tatt

what means forever to you? the most unique thing you could do is to get something that means forever to you and only you. if i were going to get a tattoo that represented forever to ME i would get something religious i think. but my point is that you don't need something that is generally recognised by other people to be "forever" i have a tattoo that represents family to me but it's a korean takeout box and a fortune cookie. nobody would look at it and say oh, that must be for family. good luck with whatever you think of.

Try "AIDS" or "HEPATITIS" as that's a couple of the diseases you can get if the tattoo parlor lets their needles or ink become contaminated. My sister was an ER nurse and says when they get an accident victim with tattoos the first thing they do is a blood test for Hepatitis, HIV and STD's. You don't know what the last person getting a tattoo there had or whether the parlor is scrupulous about sterilization and not reusing ink.
