No, they are just people and shouldn't be using the title of Father. Check this out, do they look like they are Christ's people.

No, we do not believe that a priest is higher than us but, they are one with us as we are all one body with Christ as the head. A priest is the Eunuch told about in the book of Esther who watches over and cares for the Kings bride (the Church)
As for the Father business St. Paul says he has become their Father in Faith through Christ. The calling a priest Father is much the same, as they represent our Father God through baptism. Let me ask you a question. Jesus gave his disciples his Mother Mary from the foot of the cross. The Commandments say to honor they Father and they Mother. How do you honor your Mother Mary? If you say she is not your Mother then you are not of the Body of Christ, so how do you honor her?

Higher position as a vessel of GOD - yes.
A better human - NO, we are both human, just I did not hear the call that the man heard and accepted, thus following Peter, as a vessel of GOD on Earth. I chose not to take the path to priesthood, but took another.
All are called, but using our free will, few choose this path.
So, in review - yes and no, priests are "better" than me.
All holy people are higher in my eyes to me, as are many others. I could be a better person, better religiously too, but choose wrong too often in my path through life.

A priest would technically in an elevated physical position if an alter boy were bent over in front of said priest, or on their knees in front of the priest. So I guess a lot of priests think they are higher. Bishop Thomas of Phoenix, AZ hit a pedestrian in his car killing the pedestrian, then drove away and hid the car under a blanket. Wouldn't answer the door when the police showed up and was tried convicted and had to do some public service.

No, we (Catholics) do not believe that a priest is in anyway a higher person.
He is "called" to his position and he serves the people of God.

+ Different roles, one church +
God has given a priest a different vocation than the one he has given me. I am a husband and father. I am blessed in many ways a priest will never know.
Romans 12:4-8 states:
For as in one body we have many parts, and all the parts do not have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ and individually parts of one another. Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us exercise them:
+ if prophecy, in proportion to the faith;
+ if ministry, in ministering;
+ if one is a teacher, in teaching;
+ if one exhorts, in exhortation;
+ if one contributes, in generosity;
+ if one is over others, with diligence;
+ if one does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.
+ Call no man father +
Matthew 23:6-9 reads, "They love places of honor at banquets, seats of honor in synagogues, greetings in marketplaces, and the salutation 'Rabbi.' As for you, do not be called 'Rabbi.' You have but one teacher, and you are all brothers. Call no one on earth your father; you have but one Father in heaven."
Are we also not to call anyone "teacher" or "doctor" which is how "rabbi' would translate?
This is call for humility for those in leadership roles. Not to be taken literally.
We are not to deny our male parent and cut the Commandment to honor our father and mother in half.
Some leaders in any church may fall into the same folly as the pharisees of Jesus' day.
+ With love in Christ.

No, but I believe a priest has a higher calling than me.
In other words his work is more important.

How did you type all that with no eyes and no hands?
Mat 5:28 But I say to you, that whosoever shall look on a woman to lust after her, hath already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Mat 5:29 And if thy right eye scandalize thee, pluck it out and cast it from thee. For it is expedient for thee that one of thy members should perish, rather than thy whole body be cast into hell.
Mat 5:30 And if thy right hand scandalize thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is expedient for thee that one of thy members should perish, rather than that thy whole body go into hell.
I bet you think that fellow really had a full size log in his eye, too!
You are so funny!
