You should try it...just make sure you never run alone, if you've got a fainting problem. Like someone else said-the first 2 weeks or so are hell on earth-you will probably come home exhausted, in pain, and wanting to quit. Eventually, you'll build up endurance, and be able to move after practice is over :) I'd do it-maybe try to get a friend who's new to sports to join with you, it'll make the whole newness of it not as weird. But I'd also concentrate on keeping my spelling correct, since in most schools, you have to be getting good grades to be able to play a sport. Good luck!

It will tire you out at first.
I remember joining track it was a horror going home.
But after 2 weeks you will feel fine and then you can start working on that fainting problem. You can build up stamina and endurance and eventually your body will grow to be strong. It is always a good thing to have. Not be a downer or anything but theres ALWAYS someone faster than you. Thats what should drive you once you get started and keep going after a while. There always will be someone faster. Run after them in the attempt to pass and keep ahead of them.

Why not? Track is a lot of fun, teammates are great you'll make lots of friends, get to travel, and get in great shape. If you faint easily you should talk to your doctor first and find out if you have a medical problem, it's no good killing yourself, and if you want to run hurdles fainting isn't good in that event you need good balance and peripheral vision, you could seriously hurt yourself. Plus those events you mention are quite quick you don't get too many breaths in some people have been known to hold their breath for the distance or take a couple of shallow breaths(not much time to take good deep breaths) and that could seriously hinder you if you faint easily.

Definitely try it! :) It seems like you have such a good attitude and that is the most important thing. It's okay that you haven't been on a sports team before. You'll have tons of fun and you'll meet so many new people and make new friends. Track will make you stronger too. Go for it, you'll find out new things about yourself and you'll make new friendships and gain new experience!

Track is a lot of fun, but if you are having fainting spells you should first discuss your plans with your parents and get checked out by your doctor. It sounds lame, I know, but you want to make sure that you don't put your health at risk by running. Once your doctor gives you the thumbs up go for it and have fun.

Everyting is hard at firts but you need to build yourself up, mentally and physically in everything you do.
I was in track and XC, cross country. You will get tired up, but then you learn to ignore, cramps, and heavy heart rate and breathing hard.
you'll get so good, you don't think about nothing, you just end up like Forrest Gump, you just run! You don't get winded, and yeah something like that. best of luck, try outs should be soon, right? in spring? I forget

I think you should try it. Just believe in yourself no matter what happens. When you get done running just drink plenty of water.
I hope this advice helped. : )
