No?
They why do you depend on it for ultimate source of truth instead of the creator of the universe?
Just curious.
I'm still not convinced that Atheism is a logical belief system.
No one is certain.
The difference Theists have is called faith.
Anyway, "he who speaks little carries big stick", so I'll stop.

Faith inspires me to change and study God's word.. not be lazy.
I have studied logic and astronomy, and the theory of evolution independently...going on 2 months now

your going to get hit a lot on that one. But I am very curious to see the answers they come up with, although so far they have only been "jim the star wars freak who apparently worships spocks beliefs." Oh and the good old billion people who smile and wave and deny they were trying at all! But, to be a nice person and answer the question...No logic is a God made gift, and a human infested trate. While atheist say their lack of a belief is somehow logical it is really them being to lazy to search out their own theorys, obviously if they took time to work out the problem of the univers, and not spend their time trying to bad mouth you....they would be a lot better off. But hey, they will never admit to what the real problem is....and it's us. All of us, not just me, not just you, not just them. We all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. But the good news is, that there IS ONE GOD! and he HAS COME and he HAS DIED....and he HAS SHED HIS BLOOD for US! And now, the all time "stupper" question of the universe...and its existance...is well....SOLVED!!!
And good atheists, I didn't have to put relaitive theory into it. Think of my God like our gravity. You don't question it, you don't argue with it... its simply there, all the time. Working to keep you from jumping up to high, and dying from lack of breath.
Good question Doug, but take heart, because you WILL be BASHED!
God bless you

It's not that I think logic is absolute. It's just that I see that "faith" leads people into a wide variety of blind alleys. How do we defend ourselves against that? Think about this: every monotheistic religion appeals to faith. But why this faith rather than that faith? Then you get apologetics... and apologetics appeal to... you got it, reason.
To my mind, if God is real, God is the source of reason, and so can't be *irrational.* Transrational, maybe. But there are irrationalities in traditional theism that are not "transrational." For example: human freedom vs. the omniscience of God (please don't try to argue that one with me: I have a theology degree, and I've heard it all), or natural evils and divine omnipotence (ditto). Lots of others. I won't turn off my reason and accept your doctrine of God, because reason is the power God gave me to detect certain kinds of dangerous bullsh*t.
So there you have it. No, I don't worship reason. I use it, and in using it I understand that traditional theism is not credible.

Obviously you know very little about logic.
Belief--in God or the lack of one--is a"a priori" choice--and has nothing to do with logic, one way or the other. Logic is a system of organizing thinking--and that's all it is.
It's also something a lot of so-called 'christians would do well tostudy--they'd spend less time making fools of themselves. Because the Bible is very logical--once you strip away the false ideology that today's right-wing Christians have used to distort what Christ taught.

No; I do not "worship" logic.
I do observe it's "rules" though; as anyone involved in writing, composition, or intellectual discourse should.
To do less is just sloppy.
I have no issues with any man's belief system, as long as he doesn't try to do the "hard sell" with me about it.
And logic is not - as you describe it - an "ultimate source of truth." It is most definitely a TOOL for arriving at the truth.
There's simply no excuse for fallacious reasoning.
And as we both know (I assume), faith has little to do with logic.

There is no ultimate creator of the universe. You're making a false assumption, and I'm not biting.
Atheism isn't a belief system. It's a lack of belief in your belief system.
Faith is the claim of a man to lazy to investigate, and one who is forever doomed to never know the truth.
Thank you for finally stopping.

Noooo...would never worship logic. Logic is like a handy spanner. But when you're trying to take the universe apart to see how it works, it's often more use to have a handy spanner of your own than a firm belief that someone put the thing together originally, and that ultimately, THEY probably have a handy spanner.

Hmm how to explain this to someone, like yourself, who is so incapable of understanding even the basics of logic... hmmm...
Nope, I'm not even going to try. Explaining the basics to a christian is like banging your head against a brick wall, it only feels good when you stop and walk away...
