Can you paint plastic? How?

Question

I have located the perfect items for a project that I am working on, but they are the wrong color, and I have been informed that they don't come in any other colors. If only I could paint them somehow......everything would be great

Krylon has a spray paint called Fusion that is specially formulated for plastic. You should be able to get this in most hardware stores, Wal-Mart, and such.

Krylon makes a spray paint called Fusion for Plastics, and it works great! I've used it for some plastic chairs for the patio. They come in all kinds of colors and can be found at Walmart or your local hardware store. Not very expensive either. Also, there's no sanding, so all the better!

Timothy, the honest answer is that it depends on the composition of the plastic. But if you paint the plastic with a primer you will most likely get good results. If the piece you are making needs to last a long time, you should experiment with the materials you want to use. If not, just dive into the project. There are primers for most materials in art, craft, and home stores. They come in spray and paint-on forms.

Lightly sand with fine grade sand paper and spray with Krylon Plastic paint. If you cannot find paint specifically for painting plastic or the objects are small use lightly sand and paint with KILZ primer then paint with any paint you have on hand then seal with a clear coat to finish. Good Luck!
