Yes and No, If you think about it, your water goes through
many stages of cleaning before it gets to your tap in the
kitchen of bathroom so it is safe to drink or the government
would not allow it.. But the water travels quite along way
in order to get to your house and might pass through some
corroded pipes along the way and wash little bits of
sediment along with it, but this won't kill you and is unlikely
to make you sick...
The water in your area is Treated with Chemicals like Chlorine
and Fluoride such chemicals can kill bacteria in the water
and stop the pipes that it flows through rusting or corroding
on it way to you...
But if you are still worried about it you can purchase a water
filter that is connected to the end of the faucet and thus reduces
any Impurities in you drinking water. Also if you do buy one of
these filters be sure to check out the filter ever few weeks and
you will see exactly what you where drinking before...
Buy the Filter and stay Healthy and taste the Difference!!!!

I wouldn't drink water from any faucet unless it had a filter on it. I don't trust all the Iraqi looking people in the states even if there not Iraqi's how do we know if they are or not and all the germs in the water now days even if there weren't any terroists I still wouldn't drink with out a filter.

I have drank water straight from my water tap for all 50 years of my life and I am healthy. If you live in a community that has a good clean source of water that needs little treatment to render it drinkable, then you are drinking good water. You can have your water tested through your local Health Department, for a fee, and find out what your water content is.

In Hawaii you can, but some places on the mainland have really bad water. I'd call your water supply company and ask.

It's not bad for you. It just doesn't taste very good. In my area, in Texas, the water is too salty. We but bottled water. All water has to be treated for human consumption.

no because the water comes from your local water authority but you may want to run it to get the sitting water out of the hose

It depends on where you are talking about, but if you are in the US, all water has federal guidelines of cleanliness and is MORE than safe to drink.
