Depends on how far along your dog is, you can do treatments but it is expensive. I just recently had to put down my dog due to heartworms. He was 12 years old which is old for a lab. But he got the first treatment done but never gained enough weight to get the second procedure done. But just so you know if you dont get heartworms treated your dog will eventually end up having a rigthsided congestive heart failure, which wont kill him/her but make it uncomfortable, that is what happened to my dog. Hints why we put him down. Also if heartworms get bad enough your dog could just collapse and die from running or getting ot excited.
So if you love your dog get the treatments done. It is expensive but worth it, just having one treatment done on my dog made him live longer.

Yes there is. You need to take your dog to his vet and get two treatments done. They are injections that are given that kill the worms. It can be a bit expensive but it is well worth it. Just make sure to keep your dog on heartworm prevention after the treatment because it is possible to get it again. Yes, but it can be very expensive and very hard on the dog. If a dog has a severe heartworm infestation it can leave lasting health issues. Also in very severe cases the dog will not be able to be treated and will need to be euthanised.

My dog was treated for and survived heartworms. Sometimes the treatment doesn't work depending on the severity of the condition though.

Yes!!! I had a dog that tested positive for hart worms and I had to take the dog to the vet and have her treated. It is kind of expensive and risky, but worth it if the dog is part of your family. Bear had to stay at the vets over night i think it was two different nights and I had to keep her from getting to excited and keep her from running around like a crazy dog for a while so her heart could i guess repair itself. But after that i put her on heart worm prevention and she is ok now. Good luck!!!

Yes but it's expensive. Sadly they don't have any cures/treatments for heartworm in cats. Taking it day by day with my 10 yr. old DLH who was tested positive last 2yrs for heartworm. :-(

Yes, however you have to act QUICKLY. Sometimes the treatment won't work if the worms die off and clog the arteries of the dogs heart. The treatment can kill the worms at a slow pace allowing them dissolve slowly saving your dogs life. The dog must be kept calm for the period of time of treatment. Getting the dog to vet for treatment ASAP is the best advice I can give. It's well worth it to give you dog a shot at life. Heart worms are serious!

Yes there is, although the effectiveness and safety depends on how severly the dog is infected. It is a serious treatment that requires the dog be hospitalized while its given.

Yes there is. My sister's dog ended up with heart worm and she put the dog through treatment.,and approximately eight years later the dog is still alive and has lived a normal life. I hear it is expensive.

Yes...there are pills and shots involved with ridding your dog of heart-worm. There are also tons of varieties of preventatives out there which you can also ask your veterinarian about.
