I had read that when you go backpacking they suggest not to check in your luggage but have it as a carry on .

My question is , how about tolietries ? they restrict thoes now a days so do i just purchase them when i get there ? would'nt that be expensive ?

Why would they be any more expensive over there than here? People there have to live and use toiletries too like everyone else. Maybe they don't have your particular brands but what are you going to do, it's just temporary. Bringing just a carry-on doesn't have anything to do with security, rather it has to do with ease of travel. So you don't have to wait for it at the airport, nor carry it around town. With your one bag, you're free.

toilettries in a 1 gallon freezer bag . go to walgreens and get the travelsize for everything you need ! Other stuff goes onto the luggage only1 .And no taking on board either anymore unless it's only a backpack!
Call the airline you will be taking to Europe !

We always recommend carry-on whether it's a backpack or not, but you have to make sure your backpack isn't too big. Check with your air carrier for their carry-on limits. Here's our page on carry-on tips: http://www.mousetourstravels.com/carry-on-packing-tips.html

Your liquids, creams and gels have to go in a one quart plastic bag. It won't be that much more expensive to buy more of what you need over there even with the Euro so much stronger than the dollar. There are discount stores there too.

Here's the US Transportation Security Administration's website with their list of permitted and prohibited items: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm

try www.gapyear.com - mainly for backpackers

i think it's because of the fact that it's not a proper bag and it could get damaged...? But if it is that big - then it might take up too much space in the plane...

so idk.. check out that site... especially the board bit.
