The people who shout about UK being a police state simply don't know what a police state is. The very fact that this issue is discussed openly in the media is proof that it is not the case. Knowing many people from the old Soviet empire, I understand that it was common for a neighbour to 'disappear' in the middle of the night, nobody asked any questions because they knew that the would 'disappear' too if they did. In the recent case of the Muslim man in the Midlands, he was arrested, investigated and then released. He was free to contact the media and publicise his story. In a police state this would not have happened, he would just never be heard of again, guilty or Innocent

The most ridiculous of statements, i have always found the police courteous and very helpful. They have a difficult job to do and the public should back them up to the hilt. A minority of no hopers are trying to create a bad image for the police force in the UK. It is up to all the decent living people here to support our police so they can carry on doing a splendid job.

It's a gangsters paradise, not a police state. Sure there are a lot of police, mainly busy chasing their tails around, doing their bit for bureaucracy or else going after the bad guys who aren't in bed with the police and who are therfore in competition with the bad guys who are in bed with them. Organised crime? Controlled crime? Think about it. Drugs, Guns, Prostitutes, Tax evasion, Contraband, money makes the world round and the pound is still very strong,.
