About a year ago I practically shaved my hair off (which was about mid-back length) because it was so damaged that I really couldn't do anything with it. You say you wore a wig for about a year, I did also, but there were things I did to get my hair back to its healthy state. My regimine was to wash and condition it 2-3x a week, use oil and water based oil lotions instead of grease, condition it every night with a moisturizing conditioner, once a week with a protien conditioner like Soft Sheen Reconstructor, kept my hair natural and in braids, wore it under a fitted satin cap, especially under the wigs cause the rough material that holds the wig hair will tear out hair, I also used rosemary oil which has been proven to promote hair growth.... My hair is now below shoulder length, I still wear wigs though cause I don't like to wear my hair out. The first perm I got in a year and a half was this October. I think by summer my hair should be mid back length again. But the main thing is to keep your scalp clean, hair moisturized, and protected. You can also try vitimins specifically for hair, I did this too, and am still taking them.

Alright, don't quote me on this or anything but there is this product called MTG. It used to be used to treat dandruff and scalp problems in humans and horses (kinda like mane n' tail) but they stopped marketing it to people. If you want to try that, your hair should grow about 1/2 an inch to and inch a month but you have to order it online and you have to make sure you use it properly. I've been using it since last year (June) and my hair grew 6 inches since then. If you don't want something that extreme though, you can go to the forum on this site http://www.longhaircareforum.com/home.php
and you should get lots of advice on that. Try to avoid anything with alcohol, mineral oil, or petroleum.

well I'm sure you've tried it but Garnier Fructis length and strength! I use it and I love it... otherwise I would suggest getting hair extensions... it would be a lot faster than waiting for your hair to grow for years! Hope I helped!
