for airplane, download the compressed folder to a folder you made (i.e. FSX planes)
then uncompress it by right clicking the folder. once uncompressed a folder will appear. double click and if there is folders inside titled texture, sound, and model then this is the right folder.
drag or copy the folder to C:/program files/microsoft games/ FSX / simobjects/ airplanes
hopefully this works.....im not completely sure about just plain textures

there are two types of files that add-ons come in, automatic installers within a zipped file, or just a zipped file itself that you have to install, but first of all, make sure that your aircraft of choice is completely compatible with what version you are using.

to install a manual pack, follow these steps:

1. make sure your aircraft of choice is compatible with your version of Flight Simulator.

2, unzip the pack using winzip or Windows XP's built in "unzipper"

3. take the aircraft folder and put it into yout /Microsoft Games/Flight Simulator/aircraft (or in the case of FSX your ../Simobjects/Airplanes... folder

4. if you have an effects, sound, gauges folder (either one, or all three) put them into your Flight Simulator/sounds (effects or guages) folder within the main folder of FS.

5. boot up FS, select your aircraft from the "select aircraft" list, hit OK

6, if you have done the first 4 steps as described, happy flying!

to install an auto-install pack, unpack to a temporary folder and run the installation program (simple as that)...

hope it helps you

First, it has to be compatible with FSX if thats what you have. Some i've tried say they are, but don't work. Especially the ones that originally were for FS2004 and were modified for FSX. The new acft folder goes in simobjects/ airplanes. If it's a new paint scheme, the readme will give you text to paste in the aicraft.cfg file. It opens with ms word, but you name the new one the next in sequence. It's confusing, took me forever to figure it out. The way i did it was look in folders that came with FSX to see how they were laid out, and compared to what I wanted to install. For new paint schemes, look for files that say they are a repaint or texture for and aircraft that came with FSX. Most should come with a readme that says what to do.
