Since the beginning of the industrial revolution, barely 150 years ago, we've been conducting an uncontrolled, large scale chemistry experiment with our atmosphere. We had no idea in the beginning where it might lead, but now our scientists are warning that things will soon get out of our control if we don't take significant steps to reverse our course.
Virtually every scientist on the planet says Global Warming is real, with the only exceptions being people paid by Big Oil to create doubt. The tobacco industry successfully created doubt for decades before admitting the truth. Millions of people died needlessly. If we allow Big Oil to do the same, billions will die, and billions more will suffer famine, disease, and homelessness.

This is a hoax, why am I so sure. I look at the scientists that are saying that it is not manmade and that they have nothing to gain for saying the truth. THe "scientists" that say mankind are the cause for this are getting grant money and have an agenda. There is a climatologist that is the head one for Oregan, and he is going to get fired because he says the climate is changing as part of a natrual progression for earth. According to the GOvenor of Oregan that doesn't line up with the way that he wants that state to function. This is ALL political. China produces more harmful emmisions from their country wide coal burning that would take 2 billion SUV's to duplicate, and I believe that currently there are only a few million in the world. And funny enough China is exempt from the Keuoto (sp?) Treaty. In the treaty if you want to polute more then you have to buy "Credits" from other countries to do so. It is all about shifting wealth. This is so sad and the science behind it, is seriously flawed. Anybody who believes in global warming is a lemming. THe LIberal Media is pushing forward Thier radical agenda whether there is sound facts or not. THere are more credible scientists who do not believe that global warming is caused my man. ANd when I say global warming I am saying that the earth has raised .6 degrees celcius in the past 125 years. This is all about the grant money and the tearing down of America. Follow the Money WAKE UP AMERICANS

The scientific debate about whether global warming is real and caused by man is over. I understand that sometimes individuals have exaggerated environmental issues. This is not individuals, it is the position of the vast majority of scientists. I understand that people don't like government control and collective international actions. Unfortunately that's exactly what the problem of global warming needs.
Scientists agree it's real and caused by man:
http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/fu...
That one answers the question of "How do we know the scientists agree?" It's two years old, the consensus is much stronger now.
http://observer.guardian.co.uk/uk_news/s...
Business leaders agree it's real and caused by man:
http://money.cnn.com/2007/01/22/news/com...
The IPCC report is the final proof.
The IPCC report will be available in a few weeks. It will cost money, it's 1600 pages. But someone will put it up online at some point. It covers all the ideas that have been raised for natural causes, solar variation, volcanoes, etc. And it rejects them, not based on opinion, but on hard peer reviewed data. Read the 21 page summary here:
http://www.ipcc.ch/spm2feb07.pdf...
The IPCC report is the biggest scientific paper ever, with the most data, the most authors, and the most peer review, in the history of science. It is the very pinnacle of hard scientific research. The last paper to hold that title was the last IPCC report in 2001. You can look at that one here.
http://www.ipcc.ch/pub/online.htm...
Science does not get any more solid than this.
The global warming deniers are exactly the same type of non-science believers as the people who don't believe we landed on the moon.
I would have added "or those who believe the Earth was made 6000 years ago". But I can't. Evangelical Christians believe it's real and caused by man:
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,2438...
The scientific debate over whether global warming is real and caused by man is finished. Yes and yes. The evidence is so strong that the opponents of fixing global warming tried to bribe scientists to criticize the IPCC report.
http://environment.guardian.co.uk/climat...
If the report was bad, they wouldn't have had to try to bribe scientists to criticize it.
Look at these important and influential people who agree, because of the above. You may not respect ALL the names, but surely you'll respect some.
"The science of global warming is clear. We know enough to act now. We must act now."
James Rogers, CEO of Charlotte-based Duke Energy.
"The overwhelming majority of atmospheric scientists around the world and our own National Academy of Sciences are in essential agreement on the facts of global warming and the significant contribution of human activity to that trend."
Russell E. Train, former environmental official under Presidents Nixon and Ford
"Global warming is already starting, and there's going to be more of it. I think there is still time to deal with global warming, but we need to act soon. Humans now control global climate, for better or worse."
James Hansen, Ph.D. climate scientist, NASA
"By mid-century, millions more poor children around the world are likely to face displacement, malnourishment, disease and even starvation unless all countries take action now to slow global warming."
Michael Oppenheimer, professor of geosciences and international affairs at Princeton University
"We simply must do everything we can in our power to slow down global warming before it is too late. The science is clear. The global warming debate is over."
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Republican, Governor, California
"Our nation has both an obligation and self-interest in facing head-on the serious environmental, economic and national security threat posed by global warming."
John McCain, Republican, Senator, Arizona
"These technologies will help us become better stewards of the environment - and they will help us to confront the serious challenge of global climate change."
President George Bush

look at this link. use ctrl-f and type "closes", you can read that and figure it out for yourself. But if someone started going around saying that cigarette's lead to cancer, you would think I would stop. I don't stop smoking, but i won't go around saying that scientists are wrong.
And before you decide to say that this example is different because smoking factors scientifically proven, maybe you should read some articles on global warming by scientists.

it is for a lot of people
in North Africa,India,Mexico ,millions of people are effected by land loss and desertification
in recent times thousands of people have died because of exessive heat, usually old people.in India ,Mexico and France,
deforestation causing desertification, the desert conditions causing very cold nights and scorching hot days
in china, thousands of what used to be farmers are running for their lives from the dust storms that have burried their towns and turned their lands into dessert, the globe where they were got to hot for them .
and instead of producing food they are now needing it from some where else, and they will drastically effect the world food prices when they start buying water in the form of grains ,at any cost destabalising governments, in some countries ,could be the result
(are you seeing more Chinese around interested in agricultural lands ,we do here in Mexico)
,the Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year
and all of the desserts we know are a results of mans actions ,and they are increasing ,not getting less ,in the dinosaurs days ,there were no desserts.
collectively this planet is drying up because of bad farming practices like, over grazing and fertilizers,
as far as the food production is concerned, Global warming or some of its effects are serious, rising seas result in landloss
each degree rise in temperature means 10%crop loss
more landloss because of desertification every year,we have less areble land to produce food ,for an extra 70 million people ,
and there is less and less water (because of deforestation),to irrigate this production ,
and there are less and less farmers to do it..
who are overpumping deep carbon aquifiers
who are plowing more and more unstable lands because they have lost so many million hectares to desertification ,
because of bad farming practises ,such as using fertilizers and heavy machinary or over grazing
RISING SEAS
The northpole is melting ,and we will know it without ice in our life times.
this does not affect the sea level because it is ice that is already in the water.but the melting ice from Green land and the south pole ,are another matter.
Global warming is in theory reversable, but it will mean global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen,
At least not untill we are all in the middle of planetary disastres and it becomes a battle for the survival of humanity every where.
SOLUTIONS
if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to reverse the destructive processes
reduce carbon emisions, and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials, aerosol cans, burning rubbish, industrial chimneys, powerplants etc.
the capture of carbon and the production of water and assist the aquiferous manta.
the world bank pays large subsidies for reforrestation to capture carbon and the best tree for this is the Pawlonia
Waterharvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground waterflows from the rains into the ground to supply subteranian water supplies.
the protection of existing forrests.
stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.
education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.
education on environmental awareness
education on family planning to curb over´populaion
Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management.
more environmental or land ,design to prevent bush fires, such as--fire breaks
,more dams.regulations and control for public behaviour
alternative effeciant public transport to discourage the use of the internal conbustion engine
recicling wastes,limit water use
