I am 18 years old and as I have gotten older things have become less and less enjoyable for me the older I get... I remember as a kid going to a big mall or shopping center was a real treat for me everything was almost perfect looking back as a kid... going out to eat with my parents was also a nice treat something I would look forward to almost all day... now I am older and the things I do are seeming to be more of a task than something enjoyable... when I was a kid everything was great to me and seemed important and fun nowadays its all a drag... I don't think i'm depressed theres nothing majorly wrong with how I feel i just remember when I was young how much more enjoyable things were for me... you could say this started when i was about 12 and got worse as the years went by. I'm talking about anything I do is over all less enjoyable and I don't get that chipper feeling anymore, doing anything like waking up, motivating myself to be sociable ect. What is wrong with me?

nevele i know how u feel i am the same way... the last poster asked me if everyday things are a chore like eating and sleeping YES! they are.
Also to the person who said eating with your parents can be a drab when you are a teenager.... i don't get to eat with my parents anymore they are divorced and i live in an appartment 100 miles from them i still talk to them but its just like the things i used to do were enjoyable something as simple as having a friend over made me feel great! now its like hey dude and we watch tv that's it.... i used to have hobbies like paintball but i can't afford to play anymore with bills, rent, ect. another fun thing i did was play sports after school but i was kicked off the football team for being dangerously underweight which is another thing i cannot do. thank you everyone you have been very helpful so far im starting to think this is just a part of growing up...

As we age, the things that we found enjoyable or exciting as children will become just that. Things we found exciting "AS CHILDREN". With age comes the need for more stimulation, or a different kind of stimulation. IT sounds like you need a different kind of stimulation.
Going out to eat with your parents was exciting. As a young kid. Not now, though. Going out to eat with your parents now would seem more like a drag than a treat. The majority of older teenagers feel the same way. See if you are able to change your hobbies, or find a new one. Something that you find challenging, or stimulating would be a good idea.
If you find everyday things hard to deal with, or you find things like eating, or sleeping a chore, then you are most likely depressed and should seek the advice of a doctor or psychiatrist or psychologist. Give yourself a break though, doing the same things everyday, day in and day out can get monotonous or boring. Changing the everyday things can help. If you go to a certain place using the same route, change the route. Change the scenery. If you eat the same things everyday, change that. Find more exotic foods to eat or different places to eat, etc.
I hope this helps you, but if not, please get help from a doc.
Good luck.

When you were a kid things were enjoyable because you were a child and everything was just a big adventure and it was exciting to you as you got older things changed things became less exciting because you were learning about different things and now that you are 18 you see things differently because you now have to have a job in order to get money to survive and pay for things you want..

I don't think there is anything wrong with you. You are on the two sides of life when your 18. Your and adult to the world and yet still inside starting to miss what being a adolescent means.
Changes are hard at that age-but you will survive as you navigate the new world of adulthood.

No i do no longer think you probably did something incorrect intentionally, although you have dealt with it otherwise. next time when you carry out wudu, confirm you're thoroughly dry in the previous leaving given which you be attentive to any water on the floor upsets your mum. secondly, merely ask for forgiveness and end it there. that is not any longer correct who's superb and who's incorrect. and if compelled to describe, do no longer point out your mom in any clarification whilst there's a dispute. i might have mentioned it extra like, " that may no longer how I bear in concepts it."

You just miss being a kid.. you have to let it go... you can still enjoy yourself but how can you do that is you are always doing the samethings.. probably you don't even go outside to breath or something.. stop thinking about the past and look to the future.. that is what really matters..

Sounds like depression to me. Problem with depression is that it affects the brain box so you don't know that's what it is. People over 85 are very likely to commit suicide compared to younger people because depression gets more likely the older you get.
The bad part about depression is that the older you get the more messed up you realize the world is.

I think it does sound like depression! Go to a doc! Perception does change with age. When you are younger, everything is golden, as you don't have many worries. I'd see a GP or even a psychiatrist.
