Because if there are any abnormal changes to a mole, it could be a sign of malignant melanoma. It's best to have them checked out, especially if there are any changes to color, shape, or size.

To make sure it is not cancerous. I went to the doc a while ago to have them check out my skin. They decided to take a few moles off. I had them biopsied and they came back as dysplastic. Which means they were undergoing cellular change. They had the potential to become skin cancer. That scared the hell out of me because my grandmother died of skin cancer. So now I always wear sunscreen etc...

You should get any mole that has changed in color or shape checked because it has the potential to become cancerous.

if you have irregular borders (not symetrical shape) or if they are a mixed color of brown and black. you want to have them checked to rule out malignant melanoma

moles can end up being tumors... that is why some can't be remove or touch...
