You should have a cat fixed by the 6th month.

Depends on the individual cat but most cats are fertile by 6 months and should be neutered/spayed then.
If you let a young male of 5 or 6 months out unneutered he will be attacked by adult toms and could be badly hurt!

Oh dear that of course is up to the cat but if you watch it as it grows generally as soon as the down under parts are formed fully. If you wish to breed best to ask a long term breeder for the best times but generally it is the females that need care not to breed too soon and it being male can start sowing its wild oats at full formation all depends on its individual growth patterns too.
Try phoning the vets as they see lots of cases and can tell you the best time but hey nature is nature it takes its course.

5 months and up I think is the earliest. However ye be warned, cat calling and weeing day in day out can be draining which happens when he wants a girl. Kinder to brick em :)
